Wicked Creek Productions was conceived as a partnership to foster artist development and musical event production, driven by an understanding that the world of music has evolved dramatically since the inception of the internet and the reality of current economic conditions.

Wicked Creek came into being as a collaboration of seasoned musicians and experienced business people fueled by Sedona, Arizona’s burgeoning music scene. Friends were enjoying a performance by local artists when discussion turned to the shifting paradigm of the music business in the 21st century. As the evening progressed, local and regional musicians joined the conversation and a spirited dialogue ensued. As one would expect, the commentary was fueled by rounds of wine, beer and creative passion but the end result was a blueprint for addressing several issues:

(1) The need for professional event production services to address the requirements of event promoters and fund raising entities with sensitivity to the harsh economic conditions of our time;

(2) The need for comprehensive artist management with the artist’s concerns paramount, as opposed to traditional management which focused primarily on record company requirements to the detriment of the artist; and

(3) A methodology to guide up-and-coming artists and the creation of an infrastructure to get them out in front of 21st century music industry decision makers.

The founding partners of Wicked Creek are Jimmy Mack, Chris Austin and J.D.Ducan, with associates in Chicago, San Francisco Los Angeles and Memphis.

Jimmy Mack is the public face of Wicked Creek, as well as the Partner responsible for event and stage management and event production. Jimmy, an inductee to The Arizona Blues Hall of Fame, is a legendary performer who has recorded over 20 albums and movie scores, including several hit singles. Jimmy brings over 35 years of music industry experience to Wicked Creek, and has been involved in the production of a number of large events and festivals as both principal and event manager.

The “Wicked Koalition” was conceived by Arizona Blues Hall of Famer Jimmy Mack and is comprised of a number of touring and recording musicians who have appeared with many of the musical legends of the last 30 years. Koalition members are well known musicians who have performed on hundreds of recordings and are currently appearing worldwide. Some of the Wicked Koalition’s original work can be heard here:

Chris Austin is responsible for Artist Management and Development. Chris is a lifelong blues guitarist and has fronted, booked and managed many bands over his 30+ year musical career. Chris is also an experienced substance abuse therapist and has extensive experience in psychological counseling, including personal and career development. Chris has guided many successful musicians to help them achieve their personal and professional goals.
